SalsaJester has developed a reputation for quality teaching and creating fantastic Salsa nights. Well respected in the Salsa world, SalsaJester has been able to build strong relationships with other promoters to develop and grow the Salsa Scene in Kent and the South East. SalsaJester continues to work independently and in partnership to bring more people into the world of Salsa and provide fantastic nights of dancing.

Taking my first Salsa lesson in 1998, I (Mike a.k.a. SalsaJester) was fortunate enough to find myself being taught by the inspiring Irene Miguel (who shortly after became European Salsa Champion). Irene brought a great technical expertise, understanding and passion to her teaching as well as generously giving up her free-time to train a group of us as the “Ahori-Si Amateur Dance Group” thus giving a remarkable insight into the performance aspects of Salsa.

As well as Irene, the other great influence in my early days was Saher Sidhom who brought a great vitality and energy to his teaching making the classes fun as well as being enthusiastic about nurturing & developing people starting their Salsa journeys.

These two provide the inspiration and the high benchmarks for my teaching, in which I aim to bring my students fun and laughter while providing strong technical teaching which will allow my students to develop their Salsa passion and achieve their dancing goals while having fun doing it.

SalsaJester as a company was formed in January 2004 and initially operated as a franchise of Paul Young’s, Salsa-UK, (possibly the biggest promoter in the UK) helping with the organization of many large events, including being a key member of the UK Congress team, (the internationally renowned and biggest Salsa event in the UK attracting some 2,500 dancer from around the world). At the same time, SalsaJester was developing and building the Salsa scene locally in the South East, not only with teaching but bringing World Famous Salsa acts to the heart of Kent such as Edie and Al (USA), Salsa Dance Squad (Holland), Swing Latino (Colombia) as well as top UK acts like the Diablo Dance Company (European Team Salsa Champions) or Marchant & Miriam (Voted Best UK Salsa Dance Act).

With increased opportunities in the local Salsa scene and Salsa-UK continuing to build its international reputation, the time was right for SalsaJester to emerge as a fully-fledged independent promoter to focus on the Kent salsa scene with numerous weekly club nights and events such as the SalsaJester Banquet & Balls, one of the region’s biggest and most popular Salsa events.

Working with other local promoters ImogenMoore.com, SalsaSouth.com, SalsaAtSidcup.com & SalsaCD.com the future is exciting for SalsaJester as it emerges as a major Salsa promoter for the South East.
